Update – 2 Dec ‘07
December 2, 2007 by OA :It has been quite a long while since the last update on Paul’s condition. Thousand apologies….
Paul has been coping well with his medical treatments. He will be going through a PET scan this coming Friday to allow his doctor to acertain his recovery progress and decides on the subsequent treatments.
At home, he has been well taken care of by his beloved Hui Kuan, mother and family members. Eating home cooked well balanced meals is a norm for him and there goes those days where he was seen munching aways unhealthy but tasty snacks. Resting at home is a boring task for our outgoing Jack. He has complaint that very few people have sent him emails except receiving mass mails from WHP and BPA. He would love to keep in touch and “kaypo” with colleagues, especially those who are able to feed him with some ”juicy” news and updates. The ususal Jack that we all know.
Many thanks to all who have sent in your regards and well wishes. Please do continue to pray for our dearest Paul Tan for his speedy recovery.
19 September 2007 – Looking good…..
September 19, 2007 by OA :Been awhile since the last update…Visited Paul last night, and he is back to his usual jovial self. Seems to me the recovery seems to be going on well. From what i can gather, he is eating well.
Its been some 3 weeks since he started his chemo treatment. The medication makes him feel tired most of the time, and he seems to be having problem sleeping , perhaps these are some signs of side effects of the treatment.
When i meet him last night, he was was wearing a cap. The effect of the treaments is causing his hair to drop off. Not exactly bald ..but almost there. This is expected as the doctor already informed him of the side effects.
According to Paul, has had a booster jab, to boost his white-blood cell count. This is to prepare him for the 2nd cycle of chemo.
This coming Friday, before the start of the 2nd cycle treament, a full blood test will be conducted to check on his blood counts, cancer markers and etc. This to check on the progress of his treatment.
Do continue to pray for Paul ..
- to be strong and trust the loard as he goes through the treament.
- that the result of the blood test would be favourable, which is an indication of recovery
- his family for this testing time ..and our lord will bless all with peace .
Cheers ..
Great News From Paul…..
August 26, 2007 by OA :26 Aug…. After further clinical tests and the 1st chemo treatment, doctor is now confident that Paul has germ cell cancer and not liver or pancreas cancer as suspected perviously. Germ cell cancer is cureable!!!!
Paul will undergo a 5 day chemo treatment at SGH starting this Friday (31 Aug) which required him to be warded. This treatment will be intensive and with side effects. He is expected to feel weak during this treatment and therefore unsuitable to receive any visitor.
Many thanks to you all who prayed for Paul during this period and the many encouragements you have provided to him. The gods have heard and answered to our prayers. Let us continue praying for Paul’s speedy recovery.

My Visit to Paul on 14 Aug
August 15, 2007 by OA :Its been almost 2 weeks since the last time I met up with Paul. Met him today, and notice that he has lost some weight, though his tummy is still as round. He is fine and thank all for the continual support and encouragements. Paul has been busy consulting doctors and following ups on his biopsy results and such.Apparently, the latest biopsy result taken on 8 aug could not reaffirm that the the primary source of the tumor is the liver. Which raise questions, what and how strong the medication should be?
Chemotheraphy treatment will be the suggested treatment.
Doctors advised Paul to do some exercise and I thought swiming or jogging would be appropriate. According to Paul, those are considered too strenous for him, cos sometimes he will experience breathlessness. For now, Paul is taking short walks to promote blood circulation.
Doctors also advise him not to drive anymore.
A few more reviews and meetings with the doctors , and probably next week the treatment will start.
First week of treatment , Paul will be probably be admitted to the hospital. As his immunity will be at the lowest level, in order to minimise infections, suggest that not to visit him as he will be needing lots of rest. However, do continue to pray for him for the followings:-
1. Effective and positive result of the treatment.
2. Speedy recovery
3. Continue to pray for his family, as this is a challenging time.
4. God’s blessing, and the Holy spirit to bound the tumor cells and take it away
5. That Paul will be a testimony of God blessings.
Dear Paul……..I will always pray for you that you will recover soon. God is great and he has a plan for all of us. Rest your worries in him and he will take it away.
Something for you ..

God Loves You. Period. |

I want to ask you a tough question: Have you ever felt as though God didn’t like you? Or that He was mad at you for something you did? First John 4:8 nkjv says, God is love. It’s His nature. It’s what He is. God doesn’t stop loving you when you make mistakes. He loves you. Period. Here’s how I illustrate that fact: I have brown hair. It’s part of my genetic makeup. I can’t change it. I also have three daughters who sometimes do things I don’t approve of. I can’t for the life of me figure out why or where they get some of their ideas. If I were to stop loving my children for making mistakes, it would be as if I said, “Because my children did something wrong, my hair is no longer brown.” But I can’t do that. Why? Because my brown hair is part of who I am. And who I am doesn’t change when my children do something wrong. I’m still Lindsay, my hair is still brown, and I still love my kids. God’s nature-His eternal, unconditional love-doesn’t change when you sin or miss the mark. He doesn’t approve of what you did, but He is still God, He is still love, and He still loves you! |
